Former Pakistan cricketer Saeed Anwar had a 13-year (1990–2003) international cricket career. The Multan Test of 2001 proved to be the last Test for this opener. Despite scoring a century in this Test, he did not play Test cricket again and retired from international cricket after two years.

In fact, on 31 August 2001, Pakistan won a big win by an innings and 264 runs against Bangladesh on the third day of the Multan Test during the Asian Test Championship. It was his biggest win in Tests at that time (though a year later he defeated New Zealand in the Lahore Test by innings and 324 runs). But Pakistan could not celebrate that huge victory.

In that Multan Test, scores of 546/3 runs were scored by five Pakistan batsmen (which is the record for the most centuries in an innings of a Test jointly with Australia). Saeed Anwar was also included in these. He scored 101 runs. Which proved to be his 11th and last century.

In fact, just three days after Saeed Anwar scored a century on the first day (on August 29) of the Multan Test, his three-and-a-half-year-old daughter Bismah died after a long illness. He returned to Lahore. After this, never played Test matches again.
