The victory in the ODI series against Australia for South African team director Mark Boucher is like a ray of hope and despite going through difficult moments in the last season, he is looking forward to building a strong South Africa team.
This former wicketkeeper batsman took responsibility in December before the tour of England. South Africa lost a Test and T20 series against England, while the rain-affected ODI series was drawn.
The South African team also lost the T20 series to Australia after that, but the Quinton Dickock-led team was successful in winning 3–0 against the one-day team of Aaron Finch.
Boucher told Cricket South Africa, "It was disappointing if I looked at the performance against England and Australia in the previous season."
He said, "Especially against England, we could not perform as we wanted. Our coaching staff is new and we asked some questions and we also got some answers. Some of them were good and some were bad. '
Although Boucher is happy with the team's performance in the limited overs format, he said that the Test team needs to be restructured. He said, 'The good thing in the summer session was that we saw a ray of hope especially in shorter formats. I think we still need a lot of work to do in Test cricket. '
