Amit Shah, National President of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), on Tuesday verbally attacked the Trinamool Congress government of West Bengal. He had alleged that owners of chitfund companies bought the painting of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for crores of rupees.
Rejecting the statement made against the Chief Minister of West Bengal, the ruling Trinamool Congress sent a defamation notice against him.
A senior leader of Trinamool Congress and Health Minister of West Bengal Government Chandrima Bhattacharya issued a defamation notice against Amit Shah on Tuesday. Bhattacharya accused Shah of attempting to spoil the image of the Trinamool Congress supremo by 'lying'. She said, "I have issued a defamation notice to BJP national president Amit Shah for giving a humiliating and malicious statement against Mamta Banerjee."
Chandrima Bhattacharya said, "I want to ask them on what basis they commented against our party leader. They should either present evidence in support of their statement or publicly apologize for their comments. If they did not do this, then we would adopt a legal path. "
While addressing a rally in Kanthi in West Midnapore district of West Bengal, Amit Shah accused the owners of chitfund companies for buying Mamta Banerjee's painting for crores of rupees.
