 The West Bengal government said on Saturday (May 23, 2020) that they have called for the Indian Army to support the immediate restoration of essential infrastructure and services in the state following the devastation of Cyclone Amfan.

 The Home Department of West Bengal said that the West Bengal government mobilized maximum power in integrated command mode on a 24 × 7 basis for immediate restoration of essential infrastructure and services and asked for the support of the army.  He also said that NDRF and SDRF teams have been deployed and requested to supply teams and equipment to the railways, ports and private sector as well.
