The US announced on Friday an additional $ 174 million financial aid to 64 countries, including India, to help combat the corona virus global epidemic. Out of this amount, 29 lakh dollars will be given to India as help. This is in addition to the $ 100 million announced by the US in February. The new amount currently announced is part of a larger US global response package from various departments and agencies, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This financial support is for the 64 highest-risk countries facing the threat of a global pandemic. The US State Department said it was providing $ 29 million to the Indian government to help establish laboratory mechanisms, activate case-based surveillance and incident-based surveillance, and assist technical experts for response and preparedness, etc.
According to US International Development Agency (USAID) Deputy Administrator Bonnie Glick, this new aid will further strengthen America's global health leadership. Apart from the announcement of financial support, the US is also ready to supply the need of ventilators of its friends and colleagues. President Trump said that after a large number of people were infected with the corona virus, the US has increased production of ventilators and other medical devices and their administration will distribute them to other countries as well.
