Deepak Kumar won the bronze medal in the men's ten meter air rifle at the 14th Asian Shooting Championship on Tuesday. Along with this, he also achieved the tenth quota of Tokyo Olympics for India.

Deepak scored 145 points in the final on the first day of the tournament. Deepak, who won a bronze medal at the ISSF World Cup in Gudalajara last year, entered the final of eight players by finishing third, scoring 626.8 points in qualifying.

India had already secured 9 quota places for Tokyo before this championship and are ranked fourth in the Asian region after China (25 quotas), Korea (12) and hosts Japan (12).

In this competition, Deepak, the most experienced of India's three shooters, met the expectations and managed to get the quota place. Deepak is the second Indian shooter to achieve the Olympic quota in the men's ten meter air rifle event. Before him, Divyansh Singh Panwar achieved the quota.
