Former Sri Lankan captain Kumar Sangakkara believes that India's young wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant should improve his wicketkeeping skills and understand his weaknesses in batting as India prepares for next year's T20 World Cup.
Sangakkara said in a program on Star Sports Channel, "If you are looking towards the World Cup, then it is important for him (Pant) to understand his role in terms of giving information to the captain."
He said, "At the same time, as a wicketkeeper, it is necessary that he should work cleanly behind the wicket, which will give him confidence and he will be in a good position to help the captain."
According to Sangakkara, Pant will not have to take much pressure and will have to work keeping things simple. The former wicketkeeper said, 'It is important for him to keep things easy and understand his weaknesses. Once he works on these, he will be able to formulate a strategy, it is important for him not to take too much pressure. He said, 'It is important that someone go and talk to them and remove the pressure on them and let them play the game independently.'
