Olympic silver medalist PV Sindhu has entered the semi-finals of the BWF Badminton World Championship-2019 released in Basel (Switzerland). World No. 5 Sindhu overcame World No. 2 Chinese Taipei's Tai Xu Ying's challenge 12-21, 23-21, 21-19 in the quarter-finals. With this, India's star shuttler has confirmed the bronze medal.
Sindhu won this match in one hour and 10 minutes. With this victory, Sindhu has made a career record of 5-10 against Ying. Sindhu was seen losing points easily in the first game. The Indian player was once behind 4–11 and then 9–14, losing the first game by 12–21.
Sindhu, who won silver in 2017 and 2018 and bronze in 2013 and 2014, made a good comeback in the second game and gave a tough fight to Ying. Both players were at one time 8-8 and then 12-12. After this, Sindhu took an 18–16 lead.
Here Ying again equaled 18-18. After this, both players were tied 21-21. But Sindhu won the second game from 23-21 with two consecutive points from here and was successful in taking the match to the third game.
In the third game, Sindhu was trailing 5-8 at one time. But after that, he scored on a score of 14-14 and then 19-19. The Indian player then stepped into the semi-finals with two consecutive points.
