In view of the government's decision to remove Article 370 of Jammu and Kashmir, the people of Kashmir feared a new phase of violence in the Valley and said that this could change the Muslim-majority identity of the state.

Farooq Ahmad Shah (50), a resident of Srinagar, said, "We are astonished by the decision and it has disappointed us, because our feelings were attached to this article."  Abolishing this means that the state will lose its Muslim-majority identity. ”He said that the abolition of the article could provoke people's anger.  Arshid Warsi, 20, a resident of Jammu, who visited Jammu, said, "How long will the government keep us under arrest?"

In this regard, a teacher blamed the mainstream parties of the state for the current situation.  He said, "Today we feel that we have lost our identity.  It is extremely unfortunate that the government has taken a decision that will provoke resentment rather than peace. ”Businessman Jaleel Ahmed Bhat said that due to uncertainty in the valley, his business would remain closed indefinitely and there would be livelihood.  .  "We do not know what will happen after the curfew is lifted," he said.  We feel that we are heading towards the worst time.
