Bhopal: BJP candidate from Bhopal Lok Sabha constituency Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur has held a maun vrat of 21 prahar (63 hours) from Monday morning. Earlier, in the Lok Sabha elections, political disputes arose from the statements of Sadhvi Pragya and later she also apologized. A Sadhvi's colleague told PTI, 'Sadhvi ji has taken a fast unto death 21 morning today.'
Sadhvi Pragya announced through twitter that she will be observing a maun vrat (vow of silence) till the 2019 Lok Sabha election results are out.
During the Lok Sabha election campaign,accused in the 2008 Malegaon blast, Sadhvi Pragya last week courted controversy by calling Mahatma Gandhi's assassin had brought warmth in political atmosphere with her statements. One of her statements was that she had cursed Mumbai ATS chief Hemant Karkare and one month later he was killed by terrorists' bullets. Sadhvi Pragya also made a statement that she is proud to join the demolition of Babri structure during the Rama Temple construction movement in Pradodhya.
All of these statements of Sadhvi Pragya's criticized even the BJP, their party, have separated themselves from their statements. The Election Commission, taking action against the statement given on Sadhvi's martyr Karkare, banned his election campaign for 72 hours.
New Delhi: Delhi's Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Ranbir Singh has said that due to the counting of VVPAT slips on May 23, counting of results for seven Lok Sabha seats in the national capital will be delayed by five to six hours. . VVPat machines of each of the 70 Assembly constituencies of Delhi will be matched with EVM votes which will take longer.
Singh said that after completion of EVM count, according to the guidelines of the Supreme Court, 'Voter Verifier Paper Audit Trail' (VVPAT) will be calculated. He said, "Every five VVPAT machines will be selected from each assembly segment and their slots will be calculated for which every hall will have special VVPAT count booths."
