Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that his country is ready to negotiate all pending issues with the new government of India.  According to official Radio Pakistan news, Quraishi, addressing an Iftar party in Multan on Saturday night, said that both India and Pakistan should resolve issues by talking to the region's prosperity and peace.

Two days before that, the Bharatiya Janata Party has won the Lok Sabha elections with a large majority and Narendra Modi is going to take the oath of office for a second time.  Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan congratulated him on Modi's victory and expressed his desire to work together for peace and prosperity of the region.  Khan tweeted in English and Urdu, "I congratulate Prime Minister Modi on the victory of BJP and allies.  I am hopeful of working with them for peace, progress and prosperity in South Asia. ''

After the Pulwama terror attack, there was a rift in the relations between the two countries.  Already a day before the election results announced, Qureshi and Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj had asked each other's movements in the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Council in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.  Quraishi had conveyed the desire of Pakistan to resolve all issues through Swaraj through dialogue.
