In the last phase of Lok Sabha elections, people of Chinese community in West Bengal's Kolkata also voted for the first time.

This community has existed in Bengal for over a century now but for the first time on Sunday,  they were entitled to cast their votes .
On Sunday, Jordan Lee, his wife Sujain and son Kenneth stood in the line to cast votes in favour of their party at Bhagwan Chandra Kathik Primary school in Tangra.

After casting his vote, he showed his vote mark with pride.
For almost 200 years, the Chinese community is connected to a wide range of areas - Shu Making, a dentist, a restaurant and a beauty salon has lived in the city for over a decade but was unaware of the voting process here .

Residents say that some members of the community had started contacting local councilor from last one and a half decade to consider their voting rights in state election.

Josef, a first time voter and resident explains, " People of Indian Chinese community live in Tangra and Old China Town, which fall in Kolkata South and Kolkata North Seat respectively. So we should have had our voting rights from much earlier."
