India's fielding coach R.K. Sridhar says that a four-stage exercise program is being prepared for the country's top cricketers, who can achieve full fitness in four to six weeks of practice after the camp starts.
Sridhar has been an integral part of the Indian team since 2014. He told PTI how international cricketers like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah would be ready for a hectic schedule after the resumption of the closed sporting activities due to the Kovid-19 epidemic.
He said, 'When we get a date (at the start of the national camp) from the BCCI, then we can start working from the initial level. The biggest challenge will be to proceed properly because players can be thrilled while playing after 14 or 15 weeks. '
Sridhar emphasized on workload management and warned that excessive practice at the initial level would result in injury. He said, 'Initially we have to give them a light workload, after that it will have to increase level by level.'
The former Hyderabad-based left-arm spinner said, "In the first phase, you will have to do light exercises with light speed, in the second phase you will have to increase the practice while keeping the pace light. After this, the level of both speed and practice will have to be increased. '
