According to a government report, there may be an estimated six lakh 70 thousand cases of COVID-19 without symptoms in Lahore, Pakistan.  The report cautioned the government of Punjab province in this regard and urged the authorities to strengthen the preparedness of health facilities in view of the 'unexpected' increase in cases of infection.  Lahore is the capital of Punjab where 27,850 cases have been confirmed so far.  On Tuesday, 3,938 fresh cases of Kovid-19 were reported in Pakistan, after which the total number of infection cases increased to 76,398.  There have been 1,621 deaths due to infection in the country so far.

According to the report released on Monday by the Punjab Health Department, a maximum survey was conducted in maximum places of Lahore to find out the suspected patients of COVID-19.  "Looking at the percentage of people who have confirmed the infection, it is estimated that there may be 6,70,000 patients without symptoms of COVID-19 in Lahore," the report said.

The report said, "In view of the increasing cases of infection, especially in Lahore, it has been suggested that all health facilities be prepared in time to deal with any unforeseen situation in the coming days."  A detailed summary of the survey report was submitted to Punjab Chief Minister Osman Bujdar last month.
