Hockey India has recommended the name of Indian women's team captain Rani Rampal for the Khel Ratna Award, while the names of Vandana Kataria, Monica and Harmanpreet Singh have been sent for the Arjuna Award. Major Dhyanchand has been sent to former India players RP Singh and Tushar Khandekar for the Lifetime Achievement Award. The names of coaches B.J. Cariappa and Ramesh Pathania have been sent for the Dronacharya Award.

The performance will be the basis for the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award, the highest sporting honor of the country, from January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2019. During this time, India won the Women's Asia Cup in 2017 under the captaincy of Rani and won a silver medal in the Asian Games in 2018.
