Robbers vandalized and looted thousands of dollars worth of goods at several retail and luxury stores, including the McKees store at Madison and Fifth Avenues, a popular shopping center in Manhattan.  All this happened during a protest in New York in protest against the death of African-American George Floyd in custody.  The curfew was imposed in New York City on Tuesday from 11 am to 5 am and authorities have doubled police deployment as looting and violence escalated in the city.  The New York City Police Department has deployed nearly 8000 policemen to double the deployment to prevent violence and property damage.

In addition, additional security personnel have been deployed in places where incidents of violence and property damage occurred last night, especially in the lower Manhattan area and Brooklyn.  The curfew and the presence of additional policemen could not stop the robbers from looting shops in Manhattan.  These shops were not open for almost two months due to the ongoing shutdown due to Kovid-19.

In the videos and pictures posted on social media, people were seen uprooting the plywood outside the shops.  Police and other security related agencies are facing a lot of difficulty these days to stop the fierce protesters.  A New York Times news said that the robbers broke into McKee, one of the world's largest retail department stores in Herald Square, and escaped with similar loot.  The robbers were also looted in a showroom of many expensive brands, including Naik and Coach Store etc.  The police department confirmed on Tuesday morning that several robbers had entered the Mackie store and action was being taken against them.
