The Solar Space Orbiter Spacecraft of the European Space Agency (ESA) and the US Space Agency NASA entered space on Monday as part of its historic mission.  The aim of this ambitious mission is to take photographs of the Sun's poles for the first time.  NASA has released a statement that the $ 1.5 billion spacecraft was launched with a United Launch Alliance Atlas 5 rocket from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.
Local time Solar Orbiter was launched on Sunday.  This will cover a total distance of 4 crore 18 lakh km in 7 years.  A NASA statement said that on Monday morning, the European Space Operations Center in Germany received signals from the spacecraft indicating that the solar panels on it had been successfully deployed.  In the first two days after launch, the Solar Orbiter will deploy all its equipment and antennas which will send messages to the earth and gather scientific data.

ESA and NASA had earlier launched the Ulysses Mission in 1990, which helped scientists measure the critical area around the Sun for the first time.  The camera did not go with Ulysses but the solar orbiter has cameras that will provide the first picture of the Sun's poles.  NASA said that this will prove to be very important information and with this scientists will be able to get more information about the magnetic field of the Sun.
