The season of the king of fruits is here! Though the supply of mangoes has been affected due to the coronavirus pandemic, a new variety of mango has been named 'Doctor Mango' after doctors and paramedic staff who have been battling COVID-19 from the frontline.
Haji Kalimullah, who is popularly known as Mango Man, grew the new variety of the summer fruit and named it 'Doctor Mango' to acknowledge the tireless efforts of the healthcare workers.
Kalimullah, a Padma Shri awardee, owns orchards in the mango belt of Malihabad on the outskirts of Lucknow.
He is popular for a number of mango varieties and naming them after celebrities.
Last year, he named another variety of mango after Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He had named a royal variety of mango after Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2015.
