India continues to dominate the Asia Cup cricket tournament. India has won this tournament a record seven times so far. Meanwhile in 2016 it was organized as a T20 tournament. 25 years ago today, India won the Asia Cup for the fourth consecutive time in Sharjah. On this day (14 April 1995), under the captaincy of Mohammad Azharuddin, India once again proved their superiority by defeating Sri Lanka by 8 wickets in the final.
Earlier, India won the title in 1998 and 1990/91 after winning the opening tournament of the 1984 Asia Cup. However, India did not participate in the tournament played in Sri Lanka in 1986. Indeed, due to the strained cricketing relations with Sri Lanka, India withdrew its name and was replaced by Bangladesh.
Then the Indian team, which holds a 100 percent record in the Asia Cup, also captured the title in 1995. Batting first after losing the toss in the final, Sri Lanka scored 230/7. The Indian team achieved that goal very easily by losing 2 wickets with 49 balls remaining and once again won their glory in Asian cricket.
