Amid the Coronavirus crisis and the lockdown implemented to prevent it from spreading, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray demanded special trains to send migrant laborers trapped in the state to their homes.  The Chief Minister's Office (CMO) said in its tweet late Tuesday, "CM Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray has reiterated his demand for special trains to ensure that migrant workers from other states can return home."  And has demanded from the Railway Ministry that guidelines in this regard be issued by the end of April. "

 Let me tell you that in the last days, hundreds of migrant laborers had gathered at Bandra railway station in the hope of going home between May 3 to extend the lockdown.  After which the police had to use force.  The migrant laborers demanded that they be allowed to return to their homes.  Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray assured the migrant laborers trapped in the state that there is no 'lock-up'.  In the hope of going to his home area, he had appealed to the daily wage workers gathered in Bandra to return and face the 'challenge' of the corona virus.
