Test captain Tim Paine admitted that the Australian cricket team has been avoiding instigating Virat Kohli without any reason to avoid any kind of fight. He also said that it was a strategy to keep the Indian captain's bat calm, not a plan to save the IPL contract as former captain Michael Clarke claimed.

Tim Paine dismissed Clarke's claims that there was an era in Australian cricket when he did not pressurize Kohli to get a hefty contract with the IPL franchise.

Penn told ESPNcricinfo, "I certainly didn't see more people treating Virat more well or trying not to dismiss him."

He said, 'I don't know who was bowling easily for him, we certainly didn't want to fight him by provoking him, because we thought he would do his best.'

India has to tour Australia from October 2020 to January 2021, in which it has to play four Tests, three ODIs and as many T20 Internationals.

Penn said, "Who knows what will happen in this series and we saw in the documentary that there was a lot of tension during some of those matches as well. I certainly was not stopping myself, but the IPL is not that big at the moment, so I have nothing to lose, '
