Pakistan has removed thousands of names from the watch list of terrorists. In 2018, while there were 7600 names in this watch list, in the last 18 months, this list has been reduced to just 3800 names getting smaller. Since the beginning of March, so far Pakistan has removed the names of 1800 terrorists from this watch list. This list prepares the National Anti-Terrorism Authority of Pakistan. In which many types of restrictions are imposed, including economic transactions and trade relations with people who come under the suspicion of terrorism.
According to New York-based regulatory technology company Castellum.com AI, in 2018 there were 7,600 names in this list and in the last 18 months it has come down to 3,800. According to data collected by 'Castellum', around 1800 names were removed from the list since the beginning of March. This so-called list of banned persons is made by the National Anti-Terrorism Authority of Pakistan or NACTA. Its purpose is to prevent financial institutions from dealing with suspected terrorists. It said that Pakistan is currently working with the Paris-based Financial Task Force (FATF) to implement the action plan, which includes "effective implementation of targeted financial sanctions". It is possible that these names have been removed under Pakistan's action plan to implement FATF's suggestion. The FATF will once again assess Pakistan's steps in this direction in June 2020.
