In cricket, the thrill of sixes always speaks up. These days, especially in limited overs cricket, strong hits attract headlines. Rohit Sharma is known as 'Hitman' in the cricket world. Rohit has so far hit 423 sixes in 364 matches of international cricket. He is third in international cricket in hitting sixes. Shahid Afridi (476) and Chris Gayle (534) are ahead of them.

This is the talk of the current cricket hitman. In the past, there was also the 'Hitman', who surprised the cricket world with his sharp stroke. Yes! Arthur Wellard of England became known as 'Six Hitter'.

Velard's first class was an average of just 19 in cricket, but during his career, he carried the ball over the boundary more than 500 times. Today is Velard's birthday. This English batsman was born on 8 April 1902. Velard died in 1980 at the age of 78.

Arthur Velard, playing for Somerset in Wales on 24 August 1938, hit five sixes in the over of English all-rounder Frank Woolley of Kent (Velard hit five sixes in an over twice in his career). His record remained for 30 years.

Finally in 1968, Gary Sobers made history by hitting six sixes in an over and since then many cricketers have done so for six consecutive sixes.
