The need of AC i.e. air conditioner in summer is bound to be felt. But many messages are being shared on social media and WhatsApp with the claim that AC increases the risk of spreading corona virus infection. There is apprehension about AC in the minds of these messages. But is it really so? In this case, AIIMS director Randeep Guleria told a TV channel that running AC is not as much an issue as cross ventilation.

Home and car ac
According to Dr. Guleria, if the window AC is installed in your house, the air in your room will remain in your room, not outside or in other rooms. So there is no problem in running window AC or AC installed in the car. But it needs to be kept in mind that the exhaust of the window AC in the room is well out, so that it is not going in any area where people gather.                                                                                                                                                                                   AC installed in office or public places
According to Dr. Guleria, if there is central AC in the office or in public places, it means - the air is circulating in all the rooms, then there is a fear that if someone is coughing in another room or in another part of the office. Or if he has an infection, there is a risk of an AC duct from one room to another.

Central ACs closed in hospitals
In hospitals where corona patients are being admitted, central ACs are being closed and window ACs are being replaced. According to Dr. Guleria, AC is also necessary in hospitals because as the heat increases, the problems of doctors or healthcare workers will increase, because they all see patients wearing PPE. Due to which they sweat and sweat in summer. If you have to see patients without AC in such heat, then another problem will arise.
