Struggling with falling sales, Coal India plans to hire around 6,000 people in executive and non-executive cadres this year. The senior executive of Coal India said, "The pace of the lockdown has slowed due to the slowdown, but once the situation returns to normal, Coal India and its subsidiaries will increase the recruitment because the posts are largely vacant and many posts are vacant during the year.
Subsidiaries of the company also have approval to fill statutory posts like Mining Sardar, Overman, Supervisor and Safety Officer. The senior executive said, "This year all the associate units will employ more than 1,000 workers."
The company also provides jobs to displaced families due to the projects. Land acquisition and expansion of existing projects for new projects has slowed in some states due to the Corona crisis but will be accelerated after the lockdown and 500-600 jobs will be offered.
Subsidiaries recruit paramedical staff and fill technical posts, including equipment operators, technicians, electricians and helper, after approval from Coal India. Northern Coalfields is completing the process of filling 500 vacancies and has proposed for another 1,000 recruits. The Central Coalfields will hire about 100 people. "About 1,600 people are expected to be hired in this category," the executive said. Executive cadre vacancies are also filled through departmental examinations and then interviews in which non-executives take part. This is equivalent to the new recruitment of executives and 1,500-1,700 executive posts are to be filled with this process.
