Pakistan's great squash player Azam Khan died at the age of 95 due to coronavirus. Azam, who won the British Open title four times in a row from 1959 to 1962, was found suffering from coronavirus last week, according to a Geo TV report. He breathed his last at Illing Hospital here on Saturday.

Relocated to Britain in the 60s, Azam was part of the Khan dynasty that ruled squash for decades. He is counted among the all-time greatest players of this game. He also named the toughest US Open in 1962.

However, he gave up playing after the injury and the death of his son in 1962. Two years later, he recovered from his injury but could not recover from the shock of his son's death.

His elder brother Hashim Khan was the first player from Pakistan to win the British Open. He won this title in 1951. So far 1,600 cases of coronavirus have been reported in Pakistan while 16 people have lost their lives.
