Scientists at the National Institute of Virology (NIV) of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Pune, have revealed photos of the coronavirus for the first time.  This image is taken with the help of transmission electron microscope imaging.  These have been shown in the latest edition of the Indian Journal of Medical Research (IJMR).  This picture is taken from a sample taken from the neck of India's first Corona positive patient.  The first case of virus in the country was reported on January 30, 2020 in Kerala.  The infected woman was among the three students who were studying medicine in Wuhan city of China.  Gene sequencing of these samples from Kerala was done at the National Institute of Virology.  It was found that this virus found in India is matching 99.98 percent of the virus found in Wuhan city of China.

The above article in IJMR has been written by the team of ICMR-NIV National Influenza Center.  Its authors also include Atanu Basu, deputy director of NIV and head of electron microscopy and pathology.  According to the article, a virus particle was very well preserved, showing very specific symptoms of corona virus.  Its size was 75 nanometers.
