The source of food has narrowed down to minimum in the countrywide lockdown due to the spread of Covid-19. The pandemic is not just affecting humans but our four-legged friends as well.
Street animals that usually congregated around houses, meat shops, tea stalls or restaurants are famished in 10th day of lockdown. Animal welfare group and residents of Behala , Titus Mukherjee and Somk Chatterjee and Anuradha Nag joined hands in looking out for the four-legged friends .
“We are trying our best possible to feed the dogs, if they are not fed, many will die, which may lead to another serious kind if problem,” said Anuradha Nag, a dog feeder.
The trio prepared 20 kilos of rice and 7 kilos of chicken to feed about 500 dogs in Behala Sakher Bazar, Chowrasta, Thakurpukur Bazar and 3A.
Anuradha requests localities to leave the leftover food from their houses. “It is not necessary for anyone to cook extra food , with shops and restaurants closed down, it has become difficult for the streeties to find food,” she said.
