Sources said that political strategist Prashant Kishore is likely to get Z-class security in West Bengal.  Sources said that all the formalities have been done with the details of private security officers (PSOs) and official orders are likely to be issued soon.

On June 7, 2019, Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) signed Kishore to carry out his poll strategy and counter the rise of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the 2021 West Bengal assembly elections.  .  A deal was finalized on 6 June 2019 between TMC and Kishore's team.  However, unlike previous elections, Kishore will not be the face of the campaign and will only bring his domain expertise and his team on board.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had a meeting with Kishore at the state secretariat Nabanna in Howrah with her nephew and TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee.  The meeting lasted for 1 hour 40 minutes.

Kishore is credited for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's election campaign in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections and, more recently, Jagan Mohan Reddy-led YSR Congress's chasmdhari victory in Andhra Pradesh.  YSRC won 22 out of 25 Lok Sabha seats and won 151 out of 175 assembly seats in 2019.  Kishore was instrumental in bringing together the Rashtriya Janata Dal and JD (U) in the 2015 Bihar Legislative Assembly under the Grand Alliance.

In Lok Sabha 2019, the BJP made a surprise entry into Trinamool-ruled West Bengal, winning 18 out of 42 Lok Sabha seats, with just two seats in 2014.  The Trinamool, on the other hand, reached 22 seats.
