Raman Magsaysay Award winner Sandeep Pandey was arrested by the police in Lucknow on Monday afternoon.  Pandey was going to participate in the anti-citizenship amendment act (CAA) protest.  Nine other people accompanying Pandey were also arrested and brought to Thakurganj police station.

According to the report, Pandey and his associates had reached Ghantaghar and were planning to take out a procession towards Uzriyanv in Gomti Nagar area, another protest venue.  Pramod Kumar, the station in-charge (SHO) of Thakurganj said that he has been arrested under Section 151 for breach of peace.  The SHO said that Pandey and his colleagues were also distributing anti-CAA leaflets.

It is worth mentioning that last month also, the police had filed a case against Sandeep Pandey for making controversial comments against Veer Savarkar.  Sandeep Pandey lives with wife Arundhati Dhruv in house number 893 of Indiranagar A block.  Last year, Sandeep Pandey announced a candle march against the Gandhi statue at Hazratganj against the removal of Article 370 from Kashmir in August.  After this, the police were allegedly under house arrest.
