BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has sent the names of Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, Mohammed Shami and Kuldeep Yadav to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for the Asia XI team. Bangladesh is conducting two T20 matches between Asia XI and World XI at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Dhaka which will be played on 18 and 21 March, on the 100th anniversary of its founder Sheikh Mujibar Rahman. A source associated with the case told IANS that Ganguly had sent names to the BCB only after seeing the availability of the players.

The source said, 'Ganguly has sent names to the BCB only after seeing the availability of the players. Kohli, Shami, Dhawan and Kuldeep will represent the team of Asia XI. It has been some time since the names have been sent, because the Bangladesh board needed a list of players from the BCCI to prepare the team.

Initially there was some doubt as to which players would play in it because being part of the subcontinent, Pakistan players would also play in the team and at this time India-Pakistan relationship is not good.

BCCI Assistant Secretary Jayesh George had made it clear that the invitation has not been sent to the players of Pakistan for this match. He had said, 'What we have learned is that there will be no Pakistani player in Asia XI. This is the message.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), however, said that it is not a matter of the BCB giving preference to the BCCI over the PCB. Rather, Pakistani players have kept themselves away from this match, because they will be busy in Pakistan Super League (PSL).
