Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached West Bengal amid protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee met him in Kolkata. The meeting of the two leaders held at Raj Bhavan lasted for about 20 minutes. After meeting the PM, Mamta said that she met the PM with some financial demands. He asked for 28 thousand crores of the state's share. Apart from this, the issue of CAA, NRC and NPR was discussed with the PM and he lodged his protest. TMC, Congress and Left PM are opposing Modi's visit to Bengal. Opposition parties have put up posters of 'Go Back Modi' in Kolkata. They are also trending on Twitter.
The special thing is that right after meeting PM Modi, Mamta Banerjee took part in the dharna organized by TMC's student organization against CAA. Apart from the student body of the ruling Trinamool Congress, Left activists are also staging separate protests against the amended Citizenship Act (CAA) in different parts of the state.
CM Mamata Banerjee met PM Modi at Kolkata at Raj Bhavan. After the meeting, Mamta said that she raised the issue of NRC, CAA and NPR in conversation with the PM. She said she wanted the CAA and NRC to be withdrawn. Mamta said that the Prime Minister has asked her to come to Delhi to discuss these issues. After a 20-minute meeting at the Raj Bhavan, CM Mamata Banerjee will join the dharna by TMCP student unit TMCP against Rani Rasmani Marg in Kolkata against the CAA, National Citizen Register (NRC) and National Population Register (NPR). The Trinamool Congress chief is scheduled to meet TMCP protesters for an hour. Left Front activists on Saturday protested against the new citizenship law in various parts of North 24 Parganas district.
