In Iran, the number of injured in the 5.9 magnitude earthquake on Friday increased from 300 to 520. These figures have come to an end after rescue operations in more than 80 remote villages in Tark County, Iran's eastern Azerbaijan province. The province is about 400 kilometers northwest of the capital Tehran.
According to the report, the death toll has not increased. 28 injured people have been admitted to the hospital while those who suffered minor injuries were discharged. According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC), about 20 million people felt the tremors of earthquakes in Iran and possibly neighboring Turkey.
Press TV quoted Mohammad Baqar Honer, head of the Crisis Management Center of East Azerbaijan, as saying that at least eight rescue teams were sent to the affected areas. Earthquakes are frequent in Iran. A 6.6 magnitude earthquake in the city of Bam here killed 26,000 people.
