The condition of cyclone 'Bulbul' in West Bengal is expected to become more severe on Sunday. Home, roads, communication and electrical facilities may be affected during this period. In view of this, fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea until further orders. According to the report, the Bulbul cyclone hit Bengal at a speed of 110–120 kmph. After this, about one lakh people living in the coastal villages of low-lying areas of the state were evacuated safely. Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself has also spoken to West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee regarding 'Bulbul'.
The PM wrote ,"Reviewed the situation in the wake of cyclone conditions and heavy rain in parts of Eastern India.
Spoke to WB CM @MamataOfficial regarding the situation arising due to Cyclone Bulbul. Assured all possible assistance from the Centre. I pray for everyone’s safety and well-being."
Apart from this, about 55 thousand volunteers have been engaged for public awareness about the storm. People are also migrating to safer places from many affected villages of the state. In the same sequence, on Sunday, around 200 people from South 24 Parganas district took shelter at the Sagar Pilot station in Kolkata, where the station staff and pilots served them their own food.
