Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe has said that making Ladakh a Union Territory is an internal matter of India. He also said that this will be the first such union territory of India which will be Buddhist dominated.
It is noteworthy that the Government of India on Monday abolished Article 370 granting special status to Jammu and Kashmir and introduced in Parliament a proposal to divide the state into two Union Territories - Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh. After the long-awaited demand, the people of the Buddhist-dominated city of Leh celebrated.
Meanwhile, Wickremesinghe said in a post on the social media site, "Ladakh and the reorganization of the state is an internal matter of India." The Sri Lankan Prime Minister said that Ladakh would eventually become an Indian state (Union Territory). He said, 'I believe that Ladakh will eventually become an Indian state (Union Territory). Ladakh has 70 percent Buddhist population and will be the first Indian state to be Buddhist-dominated. '
The Prime Minister said that he had gone to Ladakh and 'it was a truly magnificent visit'. Please tell that Sri Lanka is a Buddhist country. Here 74 percent of the citizens are Buddhists.
