Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the country this evening. He is likely to speak in his radio address on the decision to abolish the special status of Jammu and Kashmir and convert it into two union territories. Through his address, he can assure the Kashmiris that the entire country including the government stands with him. The Prime Minister can appeal to the people of Kashmir to help the government in creating a better and new Kashmir free of terrorism. PM Narendra Modi will address this at 8 pm. Incidentally, PM Modi also announced demonetisation on 8 November 2016 during the address to the nation at 8 pm.

The Parliament abolished the special status of Jammu and Kashmir on August 5, eliminating most of the provisions of Article 370 of the Constitution. Apart from this, a bill making Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh two separate union territories was also passed.
