Moitrish Majumdar, Kolkara:

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has clarified that this year, the DRS will be used in the Ranji knockout rounds. According to the BCCI, Hawk-Eye and UltraEdge will not be used in the DRS. These two techniques are used in International Cricket.

During the last season, there was a complaint of bad umpiring in Ranji matches. In this, during the semi-final match played between Saurashtra and Karnataka, Cheteshwar Pujara was not given out despite a strong nick.

BBA's General Manager Saba Karim has confirmed the use of the Limited DRS. Kareem said, "During the last year some knockout matches, there were some mistakes made by the umpires and for this reason we have decided to use the limited DRS to avoid such a situation."

The administrators' committee, watching the work of cricket in India, gave the green signal to the DRS in June this year. Ranji Trophy season- 2019/20 will start from December this year.

Although the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has been opposing the DRS (decision-review system) for a long time, but has now opened the door to the use of this technique in domestic matches. For the first time in India, the DRS was used in the Rajkot Test (November 2016) against England.
