The Supreme Court has decreed the compensation of Rs.50 lakhs as compensation, jobs and accommodation to the Bano who had suffered mass rape during the 2002 riots in Gujarat. On Tuesday, the Supreme Court ordered the state government in this regard. Let's say that a violent mob near Ahmedabad had raped a pregnant woman and murdered seven members of her family.

The Gujarat government informed the bench of Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Justice Deepak Gupta and Justice Sanjeev Khanna that action has been taken against the guilty officers in this case. The bench was also told that benefits like pension of police officers etc. have been stopped.

Similarly, the Bombay High Court has demoted the rank of the guilty IPS officer two. Earlier, Bano had sought a compensation of Rs 5 lakh on a petition before the apex court, rejecting the state government's offer to pay the compensation, which would be the case for others.

Earlier, on March 29, the apex court had told the Gujarat government that disciplinary action should be taken against all the guilty policemen including two IPS officers convicted by the Bombay High Court within two weeks. Bano's counsel Shobha Gupta had earlier told the court that the state government has not taken any action against the convicted police officers.

Advocate Shobha had also told the court that an IPS officer serving in Gujarat is going to retire this year, while four others have already retired and no action has been taken to prevent retirement benefits including their pension. Senior advocate Tushar Mehta on behalf of the state government had given a clean sweep and said that departmental proceedings are being done against these police officers.

Regarding compensation to Bilkis Bano, Mehta had said that the state government's policy of compensation of five lakh rupees in such incidents. According to the prosecution, a mob attacked the family of Bilkis Bano on March 3, 2002, by a mob in Randhiakpur village near Ahmedabad. At the time of the attack,Bano was five months pregnant and gang rape was conducted with him. At the same time, seven members of his family were murdered.

In this case, on January 21, 2008, the special court sentenced 11 accused to life imprisonment while acquitting seven accused including policemen and physicians. On May 4, 2017, the High Court had convicted 5 policemen and two doctors for not discharging their duties properly and tampering with evidence, under section 218 and section 201 of the Indian Penal Code.

After this, the apex court on July 10, 2017, both doctors and IPS officer R.S. The appeal of four policemen including the fugitive had been rejected. All these challenged the High Court's decision.
