Moitrish Majumdar, Kolkata:

Indian Test batsman Ajinkya Rahane has become the first Indian to join English county Hampshire and he will take part in eight county matches from May to July.

Hampshire County announced on contracting Rahai on its website. He will replace South Africa's Eden Markram, who will join his national team before the World Cup.
Rahane expressed happiness on becoming the first Indian cricketer to join Hampshire. He said, "I'm excited about becoming the first Indian to play from Hampshire. I hope I will do well and our team will win. I express my gratitude for allowing BCCI to play. "

Rahane is a member of the Indian Test Team and the BCCI wants to play in the Test specialist county championship before participating in the first series of the World Test Championship against the West Indies.
