In a tragic incident Five leopard cubs burnt to death in a sugarcane farm at Avasari village in Junnar tehsil of Pune
as farm workers burnt trash in a sugarcane field.

On Wednesday the farm workers were on their scheduled routines unaware of the presence of 5 cubs , all aged three weeks.

A farm worker said, "the farm owner asked us to burn trash after we cut the harvest. We didnot know that the cubs were there."

Jayram Gauda, deputy conservator of forest said that they feared the presence of snake and burnt the dry waste heap down and by the time they realised those were cubs it was all over.

Case has been filed under Wild life Protection act and the farm workers have to be answerable said Gauda.
