The Central Government took a big decision on Friday against terrorism. The Center has banned the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), the organization of Jammu and Kashmir separatist leader Yasin Malik. This decision was taken in the meeting of the Cabinet Committee of Security The government has taken this action under the anti-terrorism law.
Union Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba said that the Central Government today declared the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) as an illegal association under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act 1967 (Friday). This step has been taken by the government under the policy of zero tolerance against terrorism.
The Home Secretary further said that the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front, led by Yasin Malik, gave rise to separatist ideology in the valley and it has been at the forefront of violence and separatist activities since 1988. Rajiv Gauba told that 37 FIRs have been lodged against JKLF by the Jammu and Kashmir Police. The CBI also filed two cases, including the case of murder of one IAF jawan. The National Investigation Agency has also filed a case, which is under investigation.
