New Delhi : Burger and Fries Chen McDonald's registered profits for the first time in the financial year ended March 2018, almost two decades after entering India.
The company has recorded this profit at a time when there is a long legal dispute with one of its major licensed partners in the country. The Indian unit of the headquartered company in Chicago registered a net profit of 65.2 lakh in the financial year 2017-18, compared to a net loss of Rs 305 crore in the previous year. This figure is of the latest filings near the Registrar of Companies.
McDonald's has two partners in India. Its North and East Market businesses look at Connaught Plaza Restrots, while the Master and Franchisee Westlief Development of the Southern and Southern markets is near development. The company had taken a lead in India in 1996 and since then the company has lost a net worth of Rs 421 crore.
McDonald's executive said, "The company has not only managed to prevent further declines in its net worth, but has also been able to successfully convert this trend by investing in capital." The total income of the company increased by 8% to Rs 119.6 crore, much of which comes through royalty.
