West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday accused Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar of continuously interfering in the functioning of the state administration. Mamta asked the governor to decide 'who has crossed the limits of constitutional religion and decorum'. This letter from Banerjee has come out in the context of Dhankhar continuously expressing concern over the methods of the state government in combating Kovid-19. In a five-page strong letter to the Governor, Banerjee said that Dhankar has forgotten that he (Mamata) is "the elected Chief Minister of a glorious Indian state" while he is the nominated Governor.
He wrote, 'You have to decide on your own whether you have directly attacked me, my ministers, officers. Can your language and attitude be called parliamentary? Holding a press conference against the government of the state where you are the governor, it is clear from your constant interference in the work of my ministers that who has violated the constitutional religion.
Mamta Banerjee claimed that the behavior of the governor is not even in accordance with the basic standards of decorum among constitutional officials. Dhankar reacted immediately and tweeted, 'Letter received from Mamta Banerjee's office. Factually incorrect and constitutionally weak. Since taking office in July last year, the Dhankhar and Trinamool Congress government have remained stubborn on many issues.
